Please note that all resources issued are copyright to Read for Africa (RFA). Only practitioners who have been trained by RFA may
use these materials. Resources may not be changed or sold. The photocopiable worksheets and workbooks may only be copied
for use with children or adults who you are personally working with.

The Facilitator and Assessment Guide that you receive with training is a reading and spelling programme for each level. This
facilitator guide may not be copied or distributed to any other teachers or parents. It is only issued by RFA and may only be used
by people who have been trained by RFA. A black and white version of the chart may be copied by you for personal use and may
be distributed to the learners/clients that you teach, but may not be given to schools or teachers who are not trained in the
method and who have not bought the resources directly from RFA.

Users can adjust the pace of the programme according to their learners’ needs. The actual content and order should remain the
same, but the pace at which one moves through the work may differ from class to class or grade to grade and person to person.
An editable version of the implementation section of the guide is available in soft copy this purpose.

In terms of photocopiable resources, the following is understood by the reading therapist in training in terms of the electronic
worksheets that are available online and/or makeup the “Starterkit” manual. The same applies for any Afrikaans resources that
are purchased.

Only teachers/practitioners who have been trained by RFA and have bought a personal copy of the resources that they use, or have
access to online, are allowed to photocopy and use them with the learners that they work with (the license is assigned to the individual
who enrols for training and purchases the resources).

RFA’s A5 readers (bought separately) for each level are NOT photocopiable.

None of these resources may be changed in any way. If practitioners develop their own materials, they may not use the RFA logo and the
materials may not resemble the RFA worksheets or use the word Phono-Graphix®.

Anyone who is trained by RFA in the Phono-Graphix Reading method is trained to use the method to teach reading and spelling in the
classroom, small groups or one-on-one with learners (they are not trained to train other teachers, parents, volunteers, therapists or
tutors).

Only teachers/practitioners who complete the internship will be certified as Independent Phono-Graphix Reading therapists. This
certification enables you to advertise as an Independent Phono-Graphix reading therapist trained by RFA. This will not entitle you
to advertise under the RFA banner, or be a representative of RFA.

The certification enables you to teach reading using the method. No one is allowed to use the RFA logo on any advertising material. A
personal accreditation number and “Phono-Graphix Reading Therapist” endorsement logo is issued in jpeg format with your certification,
which can be used for advertising.

• If interns do not meet the reading therapist criteria, RFA reserves the right not to issue the certification. In some cases, a
  Phono-Graphix Tutor accreditation will be issued and one can re-apply to work towards the Reading Therapy certification.

It is assumed that any individual registering for the bilingual certification is proficient in Afrikaans and is able to read and interpret
written instructions and respond in Afrikaans.

RFA own the exclusive rights in Africa to train teachers, parents, volunteers and other professionals on how to teach reading using
the Phono-Graphix Reading method. Only RFA can distribute the copyrighted resources and train people in the method, in Africa.

The internship usually takes 3 to 6 months to complete. If interns do not complete the internship within a year of registering for the
course, a late certification of fee of R750 will be charged to re-enter into the internship and you will need to renew your
membership to RFA online. The current annual membership fee is R200 from January to December each year.

If you work at an organisation or school, no other teacher/staff member is allowed to use the resources that you have purchased
or that the school have purchased for you. Schools need to buy a license or pay to extend your license to multiple users. If you
have not purchased resources that other teachers who have been trained at your school organisation have access to, the license
is only assigned to them and cannot be used by you. Organisations are able to extend an individual license at any stage in order
for multiple users to make copies and use the photocopiable resources. This fee is charged prorate per number of trained users.
